Why I Adore Shooting At The Graham Mill | Graham NC Wedding Venue

The Graham Mill, Graham NC

Hey ya’ll! Dawn here. In this post, I’m going to share the reasons why I love shooting at The Graham Mill. If you don’t know, The Graham Mill is a wedding venue in Graham, North Carolina. I met the owner, Aneesa Glines, last year during a discussion that we had about diversity and inclusion in the wedding industry. In the midst of all that was happening in the country with the beginning of the pandemic and social unrest, her spirit was one that gave calm. I knew that I wanted to support her business in some way, but I wasn’t sure how.

Fast forward to nearly a year later. One of my past clients came to me with an idea for her 50th birthday shoot. Based on what she was telling me, I knew that we would be shooting indoors and would need access to changing rooms. In addition, because of the way in which I like to shoot during Covid, I would need a large space that was very private, meaning few people would be in the space. A light bulb turned on and I reached out to Aneesa to see if I could pay to utilize the space for a few hours for this shoot. The booking process was easy and we were all set for our shoot date.

Upon arrival, I was in love with the clean and bright facade of the building. Walking in, the dressing rooms are on the left and bathrooms are on the right. And straight ahead opens into the most glorious open brick space filled with glorious natural light and a slew of huge windows. The space has the feel of a large industrial SoHo loft, which I LOVE!

My shoot at The Graham Mill was everything that I expected it to be. My client was able to change into her five looks in a well designed and immaculate dressing room. The light in the space allowed us to achieve the different vibes and moods that my client was going for. The windows are amazing and look great in any photo. And that brick! It makes for a different backdrop without having to leave the space.

Bonus for Aneesa telling me to bring my skates to take advantage of their super smooth floor! I definitely got a few skates in between my clients outfit changes. There may or may not be a skate party here once this pandemic is over. I’m just saying.

Overall, I give my experience at The Graham Mill a 10/10. I will certainly add this venue to my list of shoot locations as well as to my list of wedding venues where I shoot. I can only imagine the fun and creative images that I can create with my couples.
